We Believe in Educating the Nation First

The League was established in the year 1911. Since then, it has been serving greatly in the field of education. We believe that the key to all the ills of the Society lay in the lack of education; and proper training can up-lift the masses. The major activities of the league have always been in the field of education which is given the highest priority.
Imparting education being the key responsibility taken up by the League, it was certainly not possible without a well – equipped area for the books.

“There is more treasure in books than in all pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.”

– Walt Disney.

Owing to which, a library was established by the league in 1917 at Chinchpokli, a predominantly working – class area. In addition to this, a night school too was established in Parel by 1922 to enable the workers in the vicinity to get education at night. In the same year, an Industrial School for Women was started at Parel to train women in stitching, sewing, embroidery and Craft etc. This was done to provide some vocational training to the women, who were housewives until then. The aim was to encourage these women to leave aside their routine and earn a livelihood for themselves and their families.
