The Dhuru family had donated a space of ground +2 floor structured apartment to the League in the year 1936 in the name of “Sundrabai Dhuru” for the Industrial School for Women (ISW) which is currently inoperative. Further, in the year 1989, the building was expanded to a four-storey building. Considering the problem of working women, a learning home centre was started with initially only 4 children which significantly went up to an average of 60 children per month. After the redevelopment of the building, now the first floor has been renovated with very large accommodation and modern facilities for the kids.

Personal attention is given and care is taken of each and every child in the learning home. Right from the admission of the child, we collect the medical history from each parent and ask them to keep us updated about the same from time to time. This ensures, proper care be taken of the child in the learning home.
Mid – day meals are provided to all the children in the pre – school and learning home. This is done to ensure that all the children get freshly cooked food every day.
The Government of India started the Mid – Day Meal Programme in the year 1995. In Social Service League, it started about a decade ago. The then President of SSL, H. T. Parekh started this scheme in 1985 for the students of Pre – primary & primary school with a view to cater to the growing needs of the children and to take care of the health and nutrition of the kids in their growing ages. This indeed was a visionary approach.
Throughout the year, many competitions are held and events are conducted which would enhance the growth of the child. When children are placed in the company of other children, they tend to learn quickly and with more efficiency. This is exactly what we use tactfully in order to make them learn things in a playful and fun manner. This not makes their minds sharp, but also makes it easy for them to learn without the hassle of learning.
Activity classes are conducted for the learning and leisure of the children.
